How we choose resources.
Study Index is an independent directory of learning resources. It links to providers; it does not host their courses or guarantee their teaching, access or outcomes.
What earns a place
We look for a clear learning purpose, useful explanations or practice, an identifiable provider and a working destination. Official sources, educational institutions, open projects and established specialist educators are useful starting points. A resource may appear under more than one relevant subject.
Why something is recommended
Recommended badges identify editorial starting points, with a reason you can open. They are not user ratings or paid placements. Popular-first sorting uses a Tranco domain-popularity snapshot and is separate from editorial recommendations.
Honest labels
Free core means there is a free learning option, not that everything is free. Free + paid includes upgrades or paid material. No account for reading applies to the public reading material we assessed; exercises, saving progress or software may still require registration. Experience labels are editorial guidance, not prerequisites. Unassessed resources remain unlabelled.
Dates and checks
A listing-review date concerns the description or labels, not a review of every page on the external website. Added dates describe this directory’s additions. Automated link checks can flag errors, redirects and access blocks; a successful response does not prove content accuracy. Blocks and timeouts need review before a link is removed.
Keeping the directory focused
Exam courses are consolidated into provider directories so one board does not dominate a subject. Separate tools or substantial learning resources from a provider may remain distinct where they serve different tasks.
Corrections and suggestions
Use Report a problem beside a resource or Suggest a website in the directory. These prepare an email draft; nothing is sent until you choose to send it. Suggestions require editorial review and are not published automatically.
Funding
The directory is free to browse. Optional donations support the project. Recommended status cannot be purchased. Providers may charge for their own services.
